I’d been searching everywhere for her. She’d disappeared on me for the last week all because she wanted to prove a point. One tiny little argument and it had all blown to hell. All because I couldn’t control my damn temper. I admitted I was wrong. I apologized to her. Yet she didn’t care. She just picked up her things and left me. On top of that, she wanted to act the damn virgin, and if that was the case, I was going to remind her what it felt like to have a man like me in her bed. It wasn’t even about the work anymore. I fucking missed her, and that shit bothered me. I wasn’t the type to miss a woman. I was the type who steered clear of shit like that. I was a loner, and I enjoyed my time as a loner. I didn’t want a relationship, but for some damn reason I didn’t want to lose her either.

At first, I thought, good riddance. But as the days passed, I kept wanting to see those warm brown eyes looking skeptical as I spoke, or that tiny little smile she gave as she heard me talk about what horse to buy next. And I missed her lively banter, and her pure sweetness. I missed every goddamn thing about her, and I wanted her back.

I’d searched the town, sent someone to the Blackburn ranch, nothing. She was good at disappearing. There was only one place left where most of the town gathered on a Sunday morning. There was no way in hell she was getting away from me now.

Entering the church, my body instinctively knew where hers was located. I spotted her auburn waves in one of the back booths, sitting at the edge by a pillar. Towards the far end of the church. I stalked in quietly. Some of the town folk looked up at me, others bowed their head praying for mercy or forgiveness. I was about to perform a sacrilege. I figure I’d beg for forgiveness later.

The colors from the stained-glass windows danced along her shoulders, and she was completely oblivious to the fact that I had come for her. The church was fully packed, and she was seated on the far right of the pew. All eyes were on me now as I strolled down the aisle and made my way toward her. Sliding in beside her, my knee brushed against hers, getting her attention as I stared up at the altar, looking as saintly as I possibly could, while the thoughts in my head were full of sin. I could feel her eyes on me, the heat of her body pressed against my side.

“What are you doing here?”

Turning to her, her lips parted, her eyes recognizing what was in the depths of mine. “You brought me here, I came for you.”

Her eyes darted left and right and she lowered her voice to barely a whisper. “People are watching, you can’t be here.”

“No one’s watching me but you, Princess.
